The SKDA has over 100 students both adults and children who train regularly at our Dojo in Central London. Our students are of all ages ranging from 4 years to 65+, men and women, boys and girls, often members of the same family training together. We offer no barrier to race or creed, ability or disability.
We are an association that follow the traditional forms of Shotokan Karate, as originated by Master Gichin Funakoshi (1868 - 1957).
We have fully accredited, CRB checked, professional Instructors in traditional Karate. This provides our students with the confidence of knowing that what they are being taught complies with the highest standards for Karate training.

Chief Instructor SKDA - Sensei Adrian Valman
Sensei Adrian Valman is the chief instructor and founder of the Shojujitsu (SKDA) Karate Club. Sensei Adrian has been training in martial arts for over 25 years. Back in 1981 after watching a Shotokan demonstration with some friends at Crystal Palace by Sensei K. Enoeda, Sensei Adrian decided to Join the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain). In 1996 Sensei Adrian joined the military, while serving in the middle east, he also studied Krav Maga & Karate. A few years after his return to the UK, Sensei Adrian opened his own dojo in Central London teaching Karate.
Sensei holds the following ranks:
- Traditional Karate 5th Dan
- Shotokan Karate 2nd Dan
- Shotokai Karate 1st Dan
- UK President British Kapap Association
- Krav Maga Instructor
- UK Secretary KILOHANA
- CRB Martial Arts Instructor
- Qualified Sports First Aid

Sensei Rheal Ramlakhan
SKDA Senior Club Instructor. Sensei Rheal practiced Judo and Taekwondo as a
child but stopped when he went to
secondary school.
In 2001 he achieved
the grade of 1st Dan.
Along the way he has gained an interest
in martial arts history and now studies books
on philosophy and the spiritual side of
Karate.
Since he achieved his 1st Dan, Sensei Rheal
trained with several school's in Aikido,
Ju-Jitsu, Shotokai, Shotokan, Ishin Ryu, Goju Ryu and Earth and Ocean.
In 2007 Sensei Rheal received his 2nd Dan in
Traditional Karate Jitsu from the SKDA.
Sensei Rheal holds the following ranks:
- Traditional Karate 2nd Dan
- Shotokan Karate 1st Dan
- CRB Martial Arts Instructor
- Qualified Sports First Aid

Sensei Nicholas Jones
SKDA Chldren's Instructor. Sensei Nicholas joined us in 2004.
Sensei Nicholas teaches in the children's classes and has a great rapor with the children. He is liked and respected at the same time for his control of Karate techniques and teaching ethics, he also has great flexibility and fighting skills.
Sensei Nicholas holds the following ranks:
- Traditional Karate 1st Dan
- Shotokan Karate 1st Dan
- CRB Martial Arts Instructor
- Qualified Sports First Aid

Sensei Nigel Vidal
SKDA Club Instructor. Sensei Nigel joined our club in 2002.
Sensei Nigel helps teach both the children's and
adult classes. He attends and helps at our courses
both locally and nationaly.
Sensei Nigel used to be a professional runner and
still coaches students today, if they wish to
learn the techniques used to suceed.
Sensei Nigel holds the following ranks:
- Traditional Karate 1st Dan
- CRB Martial Arts Instructor
- Qualified Sports First Aid
